Personality Test

In your discussion board post, describe what your results mean (according to your textbook and additional scholarly sources) and why you do (or don’t) agree with the results, providing examples from your own life. Include an assessment on how your personality traits are tied to your sense of self and identity.

My personality test results indicate that my personality type is ENFP (Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving). This means that my life is focused on the idea of people in that I want to help others and be recognized at an individual and humanitarian level (Humanmetrics, 2021). ENFP personalities tend to value other people’s ideas deeply and are easily distracted by new people or social beliefs. Hummanetrics (2021) explains that immature people with the ENFP personality type crave attention and rely on others to affirm their worth. Overall, ENFP people are friendly and social; they are good leaders, tend to become social workers, are often funny, and are procrastinators (Humanmetrics, 2021). In the five-factor model, my personality is extraversion, which concerns being sociable, outgoing, active, and assertive (Diener & Lucas, 2021). The authors add that extraverted people are dominant in social contexts through their tendency to talk a lot. They also enjoy crowds and social activities and are less likely to do their things without talking.

Now, consider the personality type that is the complete opposite of yours. (In other words, if you are an ENFP, imagine a person who is ISTJ). Answer these questions: What is one thing that drives you absolutely crazy about the other type? What would you like the opposite type to understand about your type? What do you most value about the other type?

I agree with these test results to a great extent. For instance, I am very jovial, and I enjoy being around people. I am also interested in social issues and often tend to be involved in crowds or situations that concern the welfare of people. Although I do not talk a lot, as Diener & Lucas (2021) stated, I tend to seek attention by voicing my ideas, as explained by (Humanmetrics, 2021). For instance, when there is nobody willing to contribute a suggestion in my team at work, I do eventually say something or ask a question. I am the perfect ice breaker in a group of people.

The opposite of my ENFP personality is the ISTJ, which seems to have nothing in common. The fact that these people tend to be inspectors of others drives me crazy. I believe everybody is trying their best despite their strengths and weaknesses. The ISTJ people judge everyone else and tend to take life too seriously. I would like them to understand that extraverted people like I do not deserve judgment for our wrongs or rights. We approach life with open-mindedness, and we are welcome no new opportunities. Being extraverted means, we are giving everyone a safe space to express themselves socially. Nevertheless, I admire the dedication of ISTJ people to duty and their sense of responsibility. They complement extraverted people in teams by making sure things are done in a timely manner, and their step-by-step approach to issues is valuable in problem-solving.
