Rank the following solutions in order in terms of increasing magnitude of solvent-solute interaction. i) CCL4 in Benzene ii) CaCl2 in water iii) propyl alcohol in waterI know things like polarity, temperature, and pressure can all effect solubility. From what I understand; water, CaCl2, and propyl alcohol are all polar, and benzene and CCL4 are nonpolar. If that is the case, then all the solutions follow the ‘like dissolves like’ rule. How do I decide the magnitude of solvent-solute interaction. And how can I look at a molecule and know it is polar or nonpolar?
