Please note that each and every assignment has its own word limit.

Ambient air pollution is defined as harmful pollutants emitted in the atmosphere by industries, vehicles, and other agents. There are various causes of ambient air pollutions, such as fine particulate matters (asbestos, fibers, and dust), fuel combustion from vehicles, industrial facilities, coal, power plants and boilers, black carbon, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and sulfur dioxide (World Health Organization, 2020; Maxwell, 2014).

Increased urbanization has a negative influence on ambient air quality and health. For example, increased urbanization means increased transportation, therefore, more carbon dioxide will be released into the atmosphere. Also, urbanization leads to industrial and commercialized growth, which means more toxic agents, such as the burning of fossil fuels is being released into the atmosphere. The increase in urbanization leads to increased air pollution which can have an effect on health; air pollution is the cause of approximately 7 million premature death. Air pollution is one of the leading causes of death globally, with 4 million deaths per year. Additionally, air pollution causes 25% of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases death, 26% of respiratory infection deaths, and 17% of ischemic heart. such as respiratory illness like allergies and asthma (World Health Organization, 2020; Maxwell, 2014; world health organization, 2020).

At the national and community level, there are state regulations on motor vehicles’ carbon dioxide emission by the U.S environmental protection agency called clean air act. This regulation ensures that all vehicle that is manufactured falls under a standard of how much CO2 can be emitted. At the international level, the United Nation created a set of standards and regulations on combating aviation CO2 emission called the international civil aviation organization. Lastly, at the individual level, each person needs to take accountability in how they handle hazardous agents, such as pesticides, and make sure they follow instructions in preventing air pollution and health risk (International Civil Aviation organization, 2020; U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 2020). Furthermore, if any of these regulations are not met, fines and punishments should be enforced to send a message that air polluters will face consequences. This will cause actions in reducing air pollutions to be taken seriously.

Air quality can be monitored and improved as a global initiative through a collaborative approach on all levels, such as local, government, national, and international. By working together and implementing air quality policies and ensuring that the policies are being followed, it creates an effective method in reducing air pollution. It was through this method which leads to the creation of the clean air act that ensures that the air quality is safe enough for the population (United Nations, 2019).
